Netflix series You is on its way for season 4 but when is the release date, who's in the cast and what will happen in the new season?

You series four will soon drop on Netflix just over a year after series three was released.

Netflix confirmed a whole two years ago that fans were indeed being treated to more of Joe Goldberg's (Penn Badgley) murderous antics and new episodes are coming out on 9th February!

The show has already given a first look at Joe's series four persona; this time he's a lecturer in London and looks every inch the mysterious professor. You can get a glimpse of part one of the new series in the trailer at the top of this page!

As diehard fans of You will know, the series is based on the books by Caroline Kepnes; You, Hidden Bodies, and You Love Me. There may only be three books at the moment, but author Caroline has been working on a fourth.

Joe and Love relocated to the white picket fence district of ultimate suburbia, Madre Linda, for series three and fans were all blown away by that explosive finale.

As audiences predict what another season of the thriller could bring, Netflix have unveiled when series 4 will be released and what we can expect.

Does You series 4 have a release date?

You series 4 Part 1 premieres 9th February and Part 2 premieres on 9th March. The release date has been brought forward by one day after Netflix originally announced the Part 1 and Part 2 start dates as 10th of Feb and 10th of March, respectively.

Earlier on in November the show confused fans by dropping a video with the caption: "Mark your calendar. Professor Jonathan Moore looks forward to seeing you this semester," and a string of dates over the next 7 weeks. They later explained on Twitter the dates 'are your syllabus for Season 4 sneak peeks.'

What will happen in You series 4?

Joe and wife Love became parents to baby Henry, aka Forty, in the third series and fans saw the obsessive stalker try his hardest to not kill anyone in front of his son be the best dad he can. After leaving his son in the US with former library co-worker Dante, Joe fled the country for Europe.

With every murdered group of victims, Joe tends to move town and adopt a new identity, just like he and Love did at the end of series two, so it could be that we'll see him setting up a prison cell home in London in series four.

In the latest teasers, we see Joe adjust to life in the capital after somehow becoming a professor in the UK.

In the most recent trailer we also get a glimpse of the new characters (or potentially victims) that will appear in the new season as Joe teases he's no longer 'the lovable bookstore manager in New York or the shop clerk in L.A. or the doting husband in the suburbs'.

Tati Gabrielle also resumes her role as Marienne Bellamy, after she and Joe had a fling in series three. What she's doing in London remains to be seen.

Where was You series 4 filmed?

The fourth season of You takes place in London! Yes - the thriller is heading to our side of the pond to see where Joe takes his obsessions next.

In a post confirming the new filming location alongside a behind-the-scenes snap, the official Instagram for Netflix wrote: "Cheerio... you. while changing his behavior may not be joe's forte, he's never afraid to switch up his address [sic].

"If his reading list is any indication, our boy seems to be across the pond."

The streaming platform also confirmed the new actors joining the cast will include: Tilly Keeper, Amy Leigh Hickman and Ed Speleers.

Penn Badgley teases a twist to You series 4

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Penn not only spoke further on the location change on the show but also a shift in genre...

The actor revealed: "The tone is similar but it's shifting in that there is a different format."

"We're using a different format," Penn continued to dish on the switch-up, "It's almost like we're shifting the genre slightly.

"And I think it works," the Netflix star added – we're already intrigued!

Penn also quipped that the reason You will be set in London rather than Paris – as seen in the series three finale – is because "it's cheaper".
